StART is a group of local residents who are trained by and provide support to the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust. They respond, prior to the arrival of the ambulance, to serious medical and other life threatening conditions, including Heart Attacks, Unconsciousness and Severe Bleeding.

StART members are unpaid and provide their time and travel costs free. The service is operational with 10 trained responders who are aiming to provide cover for the local community, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You might well know somebody who has benefited from their help.

However we need help in two ways. Firstly we would like to have more responders to help us to cover more of our rota. Full training is given and equipment is provided. If interested please contact our Chairman via our Contacts and Links page, she will be pleased to hear from you.

Secondly we urgently need funds to purchase further items, including more defibrillators, at a cost of over £2,000 per responder. If you would like to make a donation please go to our Donations page.
